2016 Summer Baseball Camp Learning Objectives

2 Week Summer Baseball Camp

 

1st Week:  Monday, July 11th, 2016 to Friday, July 15th, 2016

2nd Week:  Monday, July 18th, 2016 to Friday, July 22nd, 2016

 

Each day will last for up to 6 hours (8am-2pm). 

This camp will focus on pitchers, catchers, infielders, outfielders, & hitter’s skill set and proper mechanics (including base running).

Players will learn everything from our lead instructor and his assistant coaches.

Assistant coaches are current high school players, college players or former pro players that were trained by me.

Players to Coach Ratio estimated to be at 8:1. 

 

This 2 week Summer Baseball Camp will be open to beginners, intermediate, and advance players.  Differentiated instruction will be provided.  My High School & College Players will assist me with your instruction.  We will be providing individual and small group instruction throughout the camp’s duration.

 

Pitching instruction will concentrate on the following mechanics which include:

1- Balance

2- Stride

3- Pushing off back leg

4- Pointing Front Elbow & Front Shoulder on your delivery

5- Follow Through

6- 2 seam Fastball

7- 4 seam Fastball

8- Circle Change

9- Advanced Change up Grip

10- Cut Fastball

11- Footwork on Pick-Off Moves to 1B, 2B, & 3B

12- Covering 1B bag on groundballs hit to the right side of the infield

13- Covering Homeplate on a passed ball

14- Learning to outsmart the hitter

15- Learning to become a pitcher & NOT a Thrower!

16- Curveball & Slider for the 13 & older players.

17-  Fielding Bunts

 

Catchers will learn the following skill set:

1- Framing pitches

2- Blocking balls thrown to the dirt

3- Learn proper way to block the plate from an incoming runner

4- Getting in position to receive a throw from the outfield

5- Quick Hands

6- Quick Feet

7- Fielding Bunts

8- Throws to 1B, 2B, & 3B

9- Learning to outsmart the Hitter

10- Learn to Disguise Your Pitch Selection from your Opponents

11- Learning to become a vocal leader on the field

12- Pop-ups behind the plate

 

Infielders will receive instruction on the following skill set:

1-  foot work

2-  throwing accurately

3-  charging a ground ball

4-  turning a double play

5-  soft hands

6-  positioning before the pitch

7-  pop-ups

8-  communication before a pitch & after

9-  proper cut-off positioning

10-  throwing on the run

11-  run-downs

12-  scoops

Outfielders will focus on the following skill set:

1-  foot work

2-  fly balls

3-  line drives

4-  communication during a pop-up or fly ball

5-  charging a base hit

6-  rounding the baseball when hit into the gap

7-  throwing to the cut-off man

 

Players will learn on how to become a better HITTER & focus on the following:

1-  Balance

2-  Stride

3-  Hip rotation (Torque) or Squish the bug

4-  Quick Hands

5-  Eye-Hand Coordination

6-  Swing

7-  Follow Through

8-  Hit & Run

9-  Bunts (Sac, Squeeze, & Drag)

10-  Hitting the Ball to the Opposite Field with Authority

11-  Line Drives

12-  If necessary, how to hit a breaking ball with Authority
